On August 21, 2013 members from the Eagle Lake Senior Center had the opportunity to take a field trip to the Polk County Sheriff’s Command Center. The field trip included a brief tour of the main part of the Command Center followed by a tour of the Dispatch Command Center. While there, attendees learned about the operations of the center as it pertains to the receiving and dispatching of 911 calls throughout Polk County. The group was escorted by SGT Ivan Navarro, SSO Tamara Seaman and SSO Barbara Woodruff of the Eagle Lake PCSO Substation.

The Senior Center is open to men and women age 60 and over. Our hours are from 8 am the 12 pm week days and we provide a hot meal every day. We have numerous activities ranging from exercising to quilting, crafts and playing Bingo. We have exercise bikes that were donated by the Rotary Club and Civic League. We also work with computers, and have a member who is teaching us and then we pass the knowledge onto others. We are looking for a sponsor to allow us to access the internet. We also need volunteers of all ages to bring their talents to the center to share with our seniors. Many people have talents that they are not aware of that would benefit our seniors.

We have re-painted the senior center and want to thank all the volunteers that helped with the project!
